Central Area URA Draft Master Plan 2019

The Central Area is the city centre of Singapore. The definition of city centre is the commercial, cultural and at many instances, the historical and geographic area of a city. The city centre could also be the seat of government of the city.

Under the 2019 URA Master, the Singapore Government has plans to enhance the Central Area.

There will be new residential buildings built at Marina South, which is next to the Bay South Gardens. The area would be a car-lite area, where walking and cycling are encouraged.

There would be a greater range of usage planned for the sites at Downtown Core, which is one of eleven constituent planning areas in the Central Area.

The connectivity in the Central Area would improve when the MRT stations of Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) and Circle Line (CCL) are completed.

5km of cycling network would be added to the Central Area to allow more people to cycle within the area.

With these various enhancements made to the Central Area, it would definitely be a more vibrant area to reside in.
